Aaand we're back!

After a brief hiatus due to illness, schoolwork, and social lives rivaling those of Li-lo and Britney (pre-rehab and meltdown), we are back with dinner on Monday nights! Hopefully we can find a more regular schedule (maybe prunes would help? just kidding!) okay, okay, I will stop trying to be witty and just cut to the food...

First up was a roast chicken breasts with chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, and paprika - this was so amazingly good that I will be making this for dinner tonight (sans chicken). We skipped the yogurt sauce and used dill instead of cilantro, because someone *cough* hates cilantro with the passion of a thousand suns. Because I am writing this, I will also share that I made a homemade tzatziki to go with my dinner tonight :) Anyhoo, in addition to the chicken, H also made a super-simple salad of english cucumber, feta, and shallot, dressed only with olive oil, salt, and dill. There was also some bulgar wheat with apricots. We had a gewurztraminer with this, and that's about all I can remember of the wine.

As if dinner wasn't good enough (and we were quickly entering food coma territory at this point), for dessert H had made some kosher, gluten-free brownies for work (using brown rice flour) which she kindly shared with us. These were served with strawberries and vanilla bean ice cream. OMG, this was one of the best meals I've ever had! All of the flavors really complimented each other and left us satisfied (okay, beyond satisfied, I almost had to be rolled out of E's apartment).

After a delicious dinner, we killed a few brain cells with a healthy dose of "the Hills". I'll spare a recap since you can find those many places in much more clever language than mine. Suffice it say that we are thoroughly sucked into this young-adult pseudo-real drama! We also had an animated discussion about kosher food, being that it's Passover, and I began a quest to find kosher coke (real sugar, not HFCS!) and hit the motherload at Wegmans!! It was a fulfilling night of great food and even better company (we did miss "Gossip Girl", but c'est la vie!). Until we meet again on Monday night, take care!
